Learn the art of metalworking, soldering, stone setting, chain mail, casting, and more in a Metals & Jewelry class at the Center. Learn how to prepare and cut metal, discover the art of fusing glass to metal, design jewelry, and more! Multi-week classes and two-day workshops are available for beginner and advanced students.

Wire Link Bracelet

Description: Explore the versatility of wire in this creative jewelry-making class! Students will design and form individual segments from wire, shaping each piece into unique elements using pliers, mandrels, and other forming tools.
Once the segments are shaped, we’ll refine and connect them together to create a custom bracelet. Along the way, you’ll learn techniques for shaping consistent components, securely joining segments, and finishing your piece with polishing and clasp attachment.
This beginner-friendly class is a great introduction to wirework. By the end of the session, students will leave with a one-of-a-kind bracelet made from their own shaped wire links and the confidence to design future wire-based jewelry projects.

Intermediate Clay Workshop

Description: Ready to take your metal clay skills to the next level? This intermediate workshop is designed for makers who are comfortable with the basics and are eager to explore more sophisticated construction techniques.
Move beyond simple forms as you learn how to build dimensional pieces, join components, and create more complex structures using metal clay. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you’ll experiment with layering, hollow forms, and methods for strengthening connections while maintaining elegant design.
This class encourages creativity and problem-solving while helping you refine your craftsmanship. By the end of the session, you’ll gain the confidence to design and construct more intricate pieces on your own.
Perfect for students who have completed a beginner metal clay class and want to expand their technical and artistic possibilities.

Woven Soldered Cuff

Description: Explore a unique silversmithing technique by weaving strips of sterling silver sheet into a beautiful cuff. This class introduces students to the art of metal weaving, where flat strips of silver are carefully shaped and interlaced to form a striking basket-weave design.
You’ll learn how to measure and cut sheet metal into uniform strips, anneal and prepare the silver for weaving, and use proper techniques to achieve even spacing and tension. Once the weaving is complete, we will focus on shaping the bracelet into a cuff, finishing the edges, and finishing the surface with filing, polishing, and optional textures for a professional look.
This workshop is beginner/intermediate friendly, though some comfort with basic jewelry tools is helpful. By the end of class, each student will leave with a custom sterling silver woven cuff and the skills to explore weaving techniques in future metalwork projects.

Prerequisite: No experience is required but very helpful.
