About Phoenix Center for the Arts: Phoenix Center for the Arts provides opportunities to participate in the visual and performing arts through quality classes and programming. DEVELOPMENT INTERN – CHARITABLE GIVING

Phoenix Center for the Arts is looking for an intern to assist with soliciting charitable contributions and managing donor relationships.

Duration: Dependent upon your needs and availability

Hours: 5-10 hours per week, schedule negotiable

Compensation: A limited number of interns will be eligible for a stipend. College credit may also be available depending on the requirements of your college or university. Interns who volunteer their time will be eligible for free or discounted PCA classes based on hours volunteered.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain and update donor records
• Plan and execute solicitations for contributions
• Provide ongoing communication and support for donor relations
• Support events with donors in attendance

DEVELOPMENT INTERN – GRANTS & SPONSORSHIPS

Phoenix Center for the Arts is looking for an intern to assist with proposals for grants and sponsorships that support both general operations and specific programs, including Art Mobile, Teen Artist Guild, Phoenix Festival of the Arts, youth camps, and more.

Duration: Dependent upon your needs and availability

Hours: 5-10 hours per week, schedule negotiable

• Attend and support programs and events relevant to proposals in development

Research grant opportunities through various channels, including Grant Watch, Grant Seeker, etc.

ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS INTERN

Phoenix Center for the Arts is looking for an intern to assist with arts programs that engage youth and adults, especially those with limited access to arts experiences based on socioeconomic status, physical or mental ability, and/or geographic location.

Duration: Dependent upon your needs and availability

Hours: 10-15 hours per week, schedule negotiable

Compensation: A limited number of interns will be eligible for a stipend. College credit may also be available depending on the requirements of your college or university. Interns who volunteer their time will be eligible for free or discounted PCA classes based on hours volunteered.

• Assist in the planning, promotion, and implementation of
• Art Mobile events (one-time art workshops off-site in partnership with community organizations or schools)
With Art in Mind classes (regular art classes on-site for people living with dementia / Alzheimer’s and their caregivers)
Field Trips (on-site events for schools or community organizations visiting PCA)

Qualifications

THUNDERBIRD ARTS CENTER EVENTS INTERN

Thunderbird Art Center is currently seeking an events intern to assist in the coordination of events that further the mission of Phoenix Center for the Arts. Thunderbird Arts Center currently hosts a regular monthly event “Art in the Park”, and is in the planning stages of a yearly Open House, as well as a community-based mini arts festival. The events intern will report directly to the Class Manager and will aid in the planning, coordination, and implementation of Thunderbird events. As an events intern at Thunderbird Arts Center, you will have the opportunity to practice marketable skills relevant to event coordination, planning, and implementation. The most exciting part of being an event intern is not only cultivating marketable skills, but the sense of accomplishment in knowing you assisted in creating an environment where the community can come together and create.

FACILITIES & PRODUCTION INTERN POSITIONS

Phoenix Center for the Arts is currently seeking facilities and production interns to assist in theatre productions and maintenance of facilities to support the mission of Phoenix Center for the Arts.

Duration: Dependent upon your needs and availability

Hours: 10-20 hours per week, schedule negotiable, some hours dictated by events

Compensation: A limited number of interns will be eligible for a stipend. College credit may also be available depending on the requirements of your college or university. Interns who volunteer their time will be eligible for free or discounted PCA classes based on hours volunteered.

General Duties and Qualifications
• Work on projects within each area of facilities and theatre operation, including but not limited to an area of concentration (outlined below).
Lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis
Must be comfortable bending, squatting lifting, carrying, using stairs
Must be comfortable using ladders and scaffolding

Duties and Responsibilities – Lighting
Run Light Board for events as needed
Assist at load-in as needed
Return plot to rep plot as needed
Keep inventory of lamps, gels, cables, units
Maintain cleanliness of stock

Run Sound Board for events as needed
Assist at load-in as needed
Keep inventory of equipment, cables, adaptors, etc.
Maintain cleanliness of stock

Duties and Responsibilities – Facilities
Assist with projects related to the facility: the stage, green rooms, lobby areas, storage spaces, classrooms, etc.
Assist with load-in and strike of theatrical shows
Keep inventory of tables, chairs, and other facilities needs.
Complete projects to ensure the overall integrity of the Phoenix Center for the Arts

• Work closely with the Phoenix Center for the Arts Deputy Director to ensure branding consistency and mission adherence
Daily social media content creation on a number of accounts
Assist with press release creation and distribution
Assist with the creation of all Phoenix Center for the Arts communication to the press, public, and internal client database
Various writing projects (website copy, e-blast features, press releases, etc.)
Database management

Qualifications
Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and Photoshop
Knowledge of Constant Contact, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google AdWords is a plus

Promotional material distribution (digital and analog)
Programming digital marquee
Assisting with the delivery of promotional opportunities to contracted partners

PROGRAMS INTERN

Phoenix Center for the Arts is currently seeking a programming intern to assist in the development of new programs and the maintenance of current programs that support the mission of Phoenix Center for the Arts. The Center has also recently pioneered several new departments, including dance, creative writing, and Spanish-language art. The programming intern will report directly to the Programs Manager and will aid in the development of new classes and maintenance of existing departments. As a programming intern at Phoenix Center for the Arts, you will have the opportunity to help support existing art programs and learn what it takes to start new art programs. The most exciting part of being a programming intern is learning how to start new art programs. This includes networking with the community to find out what programs are needed and learning the basics of how to administratively establish a new program.

Phoenix Center for the Arts is looking for a youth programming intern to aid in the development and oversight of youth/teen art courses, camps, and new programs.

Duration: Dependent upon your needs and availability

Hours: 10-15 hours per week, schedule negotiable

Compensation: A limited number of interns will be eligible for a stipend. College credit may also be available depending on the requirements of your college or university. Interns who volunteer their time will be eligible for free or discounted PCA classes based on hours volunteered.

Duties and Responsibilities
Aid in the development of age-appropriate and engaging activities for youth
Draft marketing material for program promotions.
Assist the youth coordinator in maintaining connections with education contacts.
Work closely with youth coordinator to assess programs and make adjustments as needed.
Oversee program volunteers, delegating responsibilities.

Qualifications
Pursuing a degree related to education or child development
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exhibits high level of responsibility, promptness, and initiative
Ready to propose innovative ideas to improve programming
Flexibility to work on weekend, evening and weekday programs
Experience leading activities for groups of youth
Certified in Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
