Sand Casting

Description: Learn the ancient art of sand casting while creating a one-of-a-kind sterling silver charm or ring. Sand casting is a traditional technique where a model is pressed into fine casting sand to create a mold, then molten silver is poured to capture the design in solid metal.
In this hands-on class, students will be introduced to the casting process from start to finish. You’ll learn how to prepare and pack the sand, create a mold, safely pour molten silver, and release your casting. Afterward, we’ll refine and finish the ring through filing, polishing, and adding personal details so your piece is truly unique.

Woven Soldered Cuff

Description: Explore a unique silversmithing technique by weaving strips of sterling silver sheet into a beautiful cuff. This class introduces students to the art of metal weaving, where flat strips of silver are carefully shaped and interlaced to form a striking basket-weave design.
You’ll learn how to measure and cut sheet metal into uniform strips, anneal and prepare the silver for weaving, and use proper techniques to achieve even spacing and tension. Once the weaving is complete, we will focus on shaping the bracelet into a cuff, finishing the edges, and finishing the surface with filing, polishing, and optional textures for a professional look.
This workshop is beginner/intermediate friendly, though some comfort with basic jewelry tools is helpful. By the end of class, each student will leave with a custom sterling silver woven cuff and the skills to explore weaving techniques in future metalwork projects.
