BodyMind Dancing™

BodyMind Dancing™

Date: January 11, 2026 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Location: Phoenix Center For The Arts

Available Slots: 6/6

Instructor: Molly W. Schenck (she/her)

Description: "BodyMind Dancing™ is an anatomically informed, somatic movement experience that weaves together somatic inquiry, improvisation, and accessible follow-along movement phrases. Rooted in the understanding that awareness emerges through the body in motion, classes invite participants to investigate sensation, perception, and expression while engaging the art of dancing itself.

Participants are guided through cues that encourage introspection and self-awareness and then supported in bringing that awareness into relationship with space, music, and others. Each participant has the freedom to respond to prompts in ways that are safe, adaptive, and honoring of their own body, capacity, and lived experience.

Classes balance inner listening with outward connection, integrating best practices in dance education: strong social-emotional intelligence, community building, self-care informed by dance science. Improvisation and skill-building coexist, allowing participants to build confidence, clarity, and creative agency over time.

Taught by Certified Teacher of BodyMind Dancing™ (CTBMD), Molly W. Schenck, this practice draws from over 40 years of BodyMind Dancing™ pedagogy, integrating somatic approaches with contemporary dance and various movement modalities and traditions. Classes may include playful anatomy exploration and reflection, while moving to a range of rhythms - from instrumental music to silence, nature, and the internal rhythms of the body itself.

BodyMind Dancing™ offers a compassionate, expressive, and deeply human space to move, feel, and connect."

Materials: Participants should dress in loose comfortable clothing, light layers and knee pads recommended

Prerequisite: No Experience Required

Duration: 1.5 hrs

Ages: 18+

Cost: $25.00
