Dry Sun
A one act play and two cut segments, written and directed by Mario Zapién. (SPANISH PLAY)
Synopsis
Five characters are fleeing because they are being pursued by the Five Suns of the Aztec cosmovision: fire, water, wind, animals and earthquakes. Through these elements and current problems, a cultural clash arises, a clash between the simple life and the character’s conscience. After exposing their traumas and their virtues, finally, the unexpected happens, that which is also a daily occurrence in the actual life of Mexico, human sacrifice.
Besides portraying something of the symbolism that surrounds them, the play contains texts from poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.
In one act (1 hour and 30 minutes duration).
