October 31 marks the fifth anniversary of Radio Phoenix. But there is nothing scary about a community radio station that has broadcasted 8,736 hours of local, national and international programming during the last year. Radio Phoenix has treated its listeners with eclectic and progressive programming since its launch in 2008. To celebrate the milestone, the station launches its “Give Us 5” fundraising campaign and presents the Talk.Sing.ConnectFEST Oct. 18 and 19.
The Saturday events cost $10 for the day (film) or night (music showcase) and $15 for a full-day pass. In association with St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, Radio Phoenix will collect non-perishable food items for its “555 Pounds of Food” Drive. Community members can bring items to the station throughout the month as well as during the two-day festival (and be entered to win community prizes). Furthermore, community members can show support of Radio Phoenix for as little as a $5 donation in honor the five-year anniversary. More information at RadioPhoenix.org or by calling 602-254-6636.
