Explore the world of glass fusing at the Center. Learn how about glass cutting, design, molding, and care. In both beginner and advanced classes, students complete fused glass projects using a variety of glass types and fusing techniques.

Naturescape

Description: Students will create a nature-inspired design using layering, frit, stringers, and sheet glass. This class includes glass composition and placement instructions for creating a beautiful landscape design. Students will also learn more about creating depth, texture, and ambiance in their glass art, creating unique pieces that evoke natural scenes.
Materials: No required materials.
Prerequisite: Beginning fused glass experience

Description: This is an ideal time for students to come in and work on their own projects/designs at their own pace. There will be limited instruction during this studio. Students should have intermediate to advanced fusing skills and be able to work independently.

Beginning Fused Glass/Studio

Description: Students will learn the basics of glass fusion, including understanding different types of compatible glass, proper handling and tool use, basic kiln operation and firing schedules, working with decorative elements such as frit, stringers, and noodles, and the properties of glass as it heats and cools. Students will also gain hands-on experience with various techniques, including glass cutting, grinding, layering, gluing pieces together, and using slumps to create unique and functional designs. Returning students may use time for additional projects.
Materials: Glass costs will range from $60 to $100.

Bugs and Butterflies

Description: This serendipity class will have you designing 6 legged, fluttering and buzzing creatures that pollinate the plants and flowers. Your creations will be able to stand alone as mini sculptures, or can be used in other artworks or jewelry.
Materials: Students are responsible to purchase their sheet glass, dichroic glass if desired and kiln shelf paper. Supplies are available for purchase from the instructor. Tools are available for use. Cost varies due to type, size and number of projects. Each student may create up to (3) items each week no larger than 6” x 6”.” Typical class cost is $10-$20 deending on size.

Intermediate Glass Fusing

Description: Three projects will be designed especially for students who have completed the Beginning Fused Glass class and would like to explore projects that apply the basic skills of glass cutting, color selection and project design. You will receive a detailed syllabus and list of supplies prior to the first day of class.
Materials: Expect to spend between $10 and $25 on glass and kiln shelf paper every class. You are also welcome to bring your own COE 96 glass if you need specific colors for your projects.
