Phoenix Center for the Arts invites the community to a week of programming centered around women. V-Week will be held at the Center’s downtown Phoenix campus at 1202 N Third Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004. This second annual event seeks to delve deeper into conversations and movements that society has largely avoided or suppressed in the past.
The week will be capped by performances of The Vagina Monologues in Spanish and English. The cost for tickets to each event is $10, available at the door or in advance at phoenixcenterforthearts.org. The Center also offers “pay what you can” ticketing at the door.
All proceeds will benefit Transqueer Pueblo, Planned Parenthood, and Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence.

Being a woman is both a beautiful and mysterious charge in life. Every woman struggles with defining and accepting her feminine power and frailty. Using a writing prompt, participants will enjoy an exploratory discussion based workshop and then write a poem about their own womanhood. This class is intended to be fun, empowering, informative and healing. Let’s enjoy the sisterhood!

Join us for an evening of love and new learnings. Love and care starts with our selves. We learn ways and techniques to take care of ourselves and our bodies.
From Within: Reclaiming Our Own Stories – Open mic
Thursday, February 7, 2019
Times: 6:30-7:15pm & 7:30-9:00pm
Location: Basement at Phoenix Center for the Arts
Collaborator: Aliento
An open mic space rooted in believing the stories of women, a collective moment of reclaiming–our time, our bodies, our lives, our joy. Come listen to and/or share your stories, songs, poems, and dances about transformation, reclamation, and whatever you want to share from within. The Aliento open mic is a welcoming space for people to be whole, feel safe, and be in community. These are the stories that unite us, that connect us, that make us feel alive.
This is a family friendly event, we ask that any pieces shared in the first half (6:30-7:30p) are in consideration of minors and families, and more explicit or adult content is welcome to be shared in the second half (7:45- 8:45p). This event will specifically highlight the performances of self-identified women who are cisgender, transgender, and those who hold fluid identities. Men, you are more than welcome to come if you are open to hear and learn from the stories of women and take a step back to reflect on our truths.
**It is not required to have a “perfect” piece, or experience as a performer – although if you have experience you are also very welcome!**”
