“Ex Nihilo” is a Latin term that literally means “from or out of nothing”. Collage is derived from the French word coller which means “to glue.” Sebastiao Pereria is a master of Ex Nihilo creativity.
Utilizing scraps of paper or square paint samples he creates photo-realistic portraits of people he knows and admires.
“They are portraits of people I know.
They are my heroes. They are my friends.
I love to see them, side by side, sharing the same wall space.”
– Sebastiao Pereira
