ArtPrize is the world’s largest art competition attended by approximately 500,000 people, and it awards $500,000 in cash prizes to participating artists, including two $200,000 cash prizes – one awarded by the general public, and another awarded by a professional art jury. Kevin Buist, the Exhibitions Director for ArtPrize, will give an overview of the submittal process and requirements on Monday, February 26, 5:30pm Following Kevin Buist’s presentation for artists, there is a special screening of the documentary film “More Art Upstairs” by Jody Hassett Sanchez, the Director/Producer starting at 6:30pm. “More Art Upstairs” follows four accomplished artists as they compete at ArtPrize, a populist experiment that’s challenging the art world’s hierarchy by giving the public the power to decide which art will win almost half the $500,000 in prize money.
