Arts for a Change is one of the Center’s newest programs, dedicated to integrating the arts and community engagement as a vehicle for creating social change.
Phoenix Center for the Arts launched Arts for a Change in 2014 through a series of community dialogues and discussions with various Valley groups, arts organizations, and Phoenix community members. Arts for a Change reboots in Spring 2015 with a new partnership with Social Centric Institute to host a series of workshops entitled WAGE PEACE.
The first WAGE PEACE workshop took place February 19, 2015 at the Center and hosted 100 youth representatives from local high schools. Participants will learn community building tactics to positively enact change in their communities and collaborate across racial and class lines to address social justice issues. WAGE PEACE equips youth participants with the tools needed to become student leaders in their communities and inspire other teens to join the movement.
