Scholarships Gifts that keep on giving. As a nonprofit, we are always looking for creative ways to share the arts with more people, improve our space, and celebrate those who are able to go above and beyond. The best ways to support what we do: Recurring monthly donation. You can “set it and forget it” for any amount and receive the membership benefits – including early registration. Planned giving. This is one of the most unique ways to give to the Center. A planned gift celebrates you and the Center in a meaningful way in the years beyond. Named scholarships. You can either give to one of our existing scholarship funds (listed below) or establish your own scholarship. Read below to learn about our existing scholarships and prepare to be inspired. Lucia Gillard Scholarship This scholarship, established in 2014 and named after Phoenix Center for the Arts photography student, Lucia Gillard, provides support for women to participate in black & white darkroom photography. Lucia’s husband established the scholarship in her memory, through a generous gift to the Center. The Center utilizes gains on the investment of those funds, so that the scholarship, and Lucia’s passion, can live on in perpetuity. Click here to read more and apply. Larry Wilson was a beloved artist, teacher, community activist, and diligent advocate for artists of color in the Phoenix area. A third generation Phoenician and lifelong resident, Larry served as youth art instructor at Phoenix Center for the Arts, was a founding member of Art Link, as well as one of the founders of the First Friday art walk in Phoenix. Each February we hold the Larry Wilson Memorial Exhibition in our gallery named in his honor. All sales from the show are used to fund the scholarship. Click here to read more and apply. Nessa donated a portion of her estate to the Center after learning about our commitment to the people that we serve on a daily basis. She saw the Center as an organization directly in alignment with her belief that the arts can enrich lives. Click here to read more and apply.
