No Festival Required Independent Cinema, in conjunction with Phoenix Center for the Arts, presents the 2016 Sunday Summer Music Series, a monthly screening selected for Valley audiences by Executive Director Steve Weiss.
The series begins Sunday July 10 with the seminal rock concert film MONTEREY POP(1967), directed by D.A. Pennebaker and featuring concert performances by Jimi Hendrix, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Otis Redding and many others. Pennebaker pretty much wrote the book on how to film a rock concert, and set the stage for the later and more elaborate film WOODSTOCK.
