Artist Bio:
Photographer Bill Goodman is a Phoenix native. Bill shot film for the first decade or so of his career; then switched to digital mainly due to the ease with which photos can be shared. Bill has a vast collection of images based on his affection for the beauty of the Arizona desert and the many musicians that he has photographed for almost two decades.
On any given evening Bill Goodman might go unnoticed as he crouches at the foot of any stage in the Valley, anticipating through the music, a perfect visual documentation of the performance. Goodman says “I’ve been photographing live music for about a decade and a half, and mostly shoot musical performances for the sheer fun it”. Bill Goodman is a prolific photographer. His prodigious contribution to the timely visual recording of the ebb and flow of a significant segment of the Phoenix Arts landscape cannot be overstated. Many musicians have similarly expressed how honored they are just to have Bill point his camera in their direction.
Bill has a fondness for black and white photography, which he feels is more revealing. In the early phases of his “music shooting experimenting”, he developed a fondness for Ilford 3200.
